A Bit About Us
I’m Austin, the founder of Project Pass it On.
For the longest time I’ve found it painfully difficult to develop meaningful relationships, it’s never come naturally but is something I very deeply craved. Most relationships always felt surface level and borderline phony, there always seemed to be a barrier that I couldn’t get over, it felt impossible to talk about real things that made me tick. But I’ve noticed conversations are nearly always reciprocal - if you don’t open up, they won’t open up, if you don’t ask good questions, you won’t get good answers, if you only initiate small talk, you’ll never get big talk.
As an introverted person, I’m very comfortable on my own and I’ve always loved answering big questions by myself, spending nights thinking about life and exploring ideas. Although that’s a lot of fun (for me), you miss best parts of human connection and the memories that come with it.
I started to play around and explore how to actually ask good questions - how to evoke certain emotions, situational dynamics, timing, creating buy-in etc. I started having some of the best conversations I’ve ever had, and my relationships became so rich and fulfilling.
It probably sounds obvious that good questions lead to good conversations, yet for most it’s rare to have these chats regularly. You might have one or two people you're truly comfortable having deep conversations with and even then it still might be rare you get the time for them. We're trying to bridge the gap by providing an easy option to sprinkle these topics in to everyday life.
We're aware that deep chats can be intense, but introspection doesn't have to be heavy all the time. We design our prompts and our decks with varying themes and dynamics depending on what you want get out of them. All of our decks are written to have fundamental tones of curiosity, exploration, creativity and humour to aid in making heavy topics feel light and not like an interrogation.
With the help of a few friends that share the passion, we’ve created Project Pass it On to help normalise quality conversation and grow deeper connections not only with ourselves, but with friends, families, colleagues and as a connected society.
As it may imply in the name, Project Pass it On relies on a bit of help from you guys. At the bottom of most of our cards it will have this line:
From yours to theirs, a story untold…
The cards can be answered individually but the concept of this is to share and explore these with others. It doesn’t matter how you share it - You can pass this on to a friend or family member after you’ve answered it by yourself. You can answer with others and share your answers. You can share these with a stranger you pass on the street. You can put it in someone’s letter box as part of your morning walk. You can leave these behind in a café for someone to find.
Our hope is that we can find others like us to share thoughts and ideas with. If you like what we do and want to connect, feel free to shoot us a message!
